The City is
currently collecting yard waste on Fridays only, as a way to continue this
program while focusing on the safe, timely collection of trash and recycling,
which are essential services that support public health.
City refuse collectors continue
to face the challenge of an historic increase in curbside trash and
recycling volume, as residents spend more time at home due to the COVID-19
pandemic. This, coupled with additional cleaning and safety protocols, makes for a much longer, more difficult workday. City crews have
often worked extended schedules to keep up with demand. Suspending yard waste
collection for one week will allow the City to both conduct vehicle maintenance
and identify additional resources to assist with
curbside collection.
