14-Year-Olds Charged After Attempted Robbery At Ice Center: Police

Two 14-year-old boys face charges after an attempted robbery at the Prince William Ice Center earlier this month, police said.

WOODBRIDGE, VA — A pair of 14-year-old boys face charges of attempted robbery in connection with an incident at the Prince William Ice Center earlier this month. Authorities said the boys tackled a 13-year-old victim, held him down, and went through his pockets.

Officers responded to the ice center on Dale Boulevard around 9 p.m. on Friday, May 6 to investigate. Authorities determined that the victim, who police only identified as a 13-year-old boy, was inside the center when a group of teenagers approached him. After a brief exchange, the boy went to the parking lot to wait for his ride, police said.

Outside, the group approached the victim again. When the victim began to walk away, three of the boys from the group followed him, police said. When the victim began to run, the other teens tackled him.

The teens held the victim down and went through his pockets, according to the police report. One of the suspects held a knife while demanding the victim's property, authorities said.

The victim was eventually able to break free and run away. He reported minor injuries, and no property was missing.

When officers responded to the scene, they found a group of children who were part of the original group that approached the victim, but they were not involved in the robbery attempt.

Officers were able to identify two of the suspects, who were only publicly identified as 14-year-old boys from Woodbridge. They are charged with attempted robbery and abduction. Officers are still working to identify the third suspect.
