17-Year-Old Shot In Woodbridge On Friday Morning: Police

Authorities are investigating a shooting in Woodbridge that left a 17-year-old boy with gunshot wounds on Friday morning.

WOODBRIDGE, VA —A 17-year-old boy was shot in Woodbridge on Friday morning, according to the Prince William County Police Department.

The boy was flown to a hospital, where medical personnel determined that his injuries were not life-threatening.

Investigators have not publicly identified any suspects in the shooting. The police department has not provided a detailed physical description.

The shooting occurred around 2:30 a.m. on Tumbling Brook Lane near Wood Hollow Drive, police said. Officers were investigating reports of gunshots when they found the teen suffering from gunshot wounds. They provided first aid until rescue personnel arrived, according to the police report.

Police officers believe the victim met somebody earlier in the evening. The pair were walking on Tumbling Brook Lane when two other men approached them, pulled out guns, and fired multiple shots, authorities said.

The gunmen left the area before police arrived. Officers found cartridge casings in the roadway after the shooting. A helicopter and a police K-9 searched for the suspects, but they were unable to find them.
