2 Injured Escaping From Burning Building In Woodbridge: Authorities
Two adults were injured when they had to evacuate from a second-story window to escape their burning home on Friday, authorities said.
WOODBRIDGE, VA — Five people had to jump from the second story of a burning home in Woodbridge on Friday morning, fire department officials said.
Two adults were injured in the escape. Their injuries were not life-threatening, authorities said. Three children who were in the home were not injured.
Investigators believe the fire started in the living room due to an electrical issue.

The fire broke out around 1 a.m. on Friday in the 3000 block of Eagle Rock Court. The family was woken up by smoke detectors. They evacuated from a second-story window before first responders arrived, authorities said.
The property sustained extensive damage in the blaze, fire department officials said. The two injured adults were taken to an area hospital to receive treatment.

Authorities said the smoke detectors may have saved the family's lives.
"All residences must and should have smoke detectors," Fire Chief Thomas LaBelle said in a news release. Authorities noted that smoke detectors are the best warning system and give residents time to escape.
