Virginia State Police said the chase began around 3 a.m. on Sunday near exit 163 for Lorton on southbound I-95. A trooper said they tried to pull over a Dodge Charger because it had a license plate that was reported stolen in Maryland.

The driver of the Charger refused to stop and sped away from the trooper, police claimed. The trooper began to chase the Charger.

Two minutes later, the Dodge ran off the right side of the highway near Occoquan Road, police said. The car struck a guardrail before crashing into a ditch.

Police said Kamara ran away from the crash while a passenger in the car remained on the scene.

Troopers arrested Kamara near the crash site. When they searched the car, troopers claimed to have found 2 kilograms of fentanyl pills.
