2 Suffer Gunshot Wounds In Shooting With 4 Police Officers
An undercover operation in Dale City left two people with gunshot wounds after 4 officers exchanged gunshots with 2 people, police said.

PRINCE WILLIAM COUNTY, VA — Two people were shot during an exchange of gunfire with undercover police officers in Dale City on Thursday night, according to the Prince William County Police Department.
The two gunshot victims were taken to nearby hospitals for treatment. The police department described the victims as a 30-year-old man and an unidentified man. No officers were injured in the shooting. Authorities said the two men were the subjects of an investigation into fentanyl distribution.
Deputy Chief Jarad Phelps of the Prince William County Police Department briefed the media on Thursday night after the shooting.

Phelps said the shooting occurred during an undercover operation into with officers from Prince William County, Manassas City, Manassas Park, the FBI, and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.
Phelps said two people exchanged gunfire with officers during the undercover operation around 7 p.m. Thursday in the 14700 block of Fox Glove Court near Cloverdale Road.

Phelps reported that at least two Prince William County police officers and two Manassas City police officers fired shots. He was unable to say whether police or the two people fired first.

The criminal investigation from the undercover operation has been turned over to independent investigators from Critical Incident Response Team. The results of the investigation will be presented to Amy Ashworth of the Commonwealth's Attorney's Office.
Internal affairs officers from the Prince William County Police Department and the Manassas City Police Department will investigate the officer-involved shooting.
