80-Year-Old Man Shoots, Kills 60-Year-Old Family Member In Woodbridge: Police
Authorities said an 80-year-old man shot and killed a 60-year-old family member in Woodbridge on Sunday after an argument escalated.

WOODBRIDGE, VA — An 80-year-old man shot and killed a 60-year-old family member at a home in Woodbridge on Sunday night, according to the Prince William County Police Department.
Authorities identified the deceased family member as Frank Adolf Mateo.
The police department has not publicly identified the accused gunman or announced any criminal charges in connection with the shooting. Authorities said he was detained after the incident.

The shooting occurred around 8:50 p.m. on Sunday at a home in the 14500 block of Fullerton Road in Woodbridge. The police department said two family members had an argument that escalated and led to the shooting.
When police officers arrived at the scene, they detained the 80-year-old man and provided first aid to the shooting victim. More first responders took the victim to an area hospital, where he died from his injuries.

"The parties involved in this incident are accounted for, and there is no threat to the community," the police department said in a report. "Detectives are continuing their investigation to determine what led up to the shooting, and if charges will be obtained."
