85-Year-Old Man Assaulted At Woodbridge Gas Station: Police

WOODBRIDGE, VA — A man was arrested in Woodbridge on Wednesday after he was accused of assaulting an 85-year-old man, the Prince William County Police Department said.

The victim, who authorities did not identify by name, was taken to the hospital after the assault. The police department said his injuries were not life-threatening.

Authorities identified the suspect as 21-year-old Amiri Miles Harris of Woodbridge. Harris is charged with one count of malicious wounding. His court date is set for July 13 and he is being held without bond.

If convicted, Harris could face up to five years in prison, based on Virginia's sentencing guidelines.

The assault occurred on Tuesday morning at the Shell service station at 4110 Dale Boulevard in Woodbridge. Investigators said the victim walked out of the gas station and had an argument with Harris.

The argument escalated when Harris struck the victim, knocking him to the ground, the police department said. The fall caused the victim to hit his head.

An ambulance arrived and took the victim to an area hospital for treatment. After their investigation, police officers obtained a warrant for Harris's arrest. He was taken into custody on Wednesday.
