Police Investigate Third Bank Robbery In Two Weeks In Prince William County

DUMFRIES, VA — Another bank was robbed in Dumfries on Saturday, the Prince William County Police Department said. It's the third bank robbery in eastern Prince William County this month.

No injuries were reported in Saturday's robbery at the United Bank on Richmond Highway.

Authorities have not made any arrests in connection with the robbery. The police department said the suspect was a Black man who is about 5 feet, 9 inches tall and weighs 180 pounds. During the robbery, he was wearing a camouflaged fitted cap, a black face mask, a yellow reflective vest with a bright yellow sweatshirt underneath, grey athletic pants, and black shoes.

The robbery occurred around 10 a.m. on Saturday, the police department said. Investigators believe the robber entered the bank and passed a note to the teller that implied he was armed.

The teller complied with the robber's demands, and he left the bank with cash, according to the police report. Witnesses last saw the robber running toward Allerton Court, authorities said.

A police K-9 searched the area along with a helicopter, but they did not find any suspects.

The police department has not said whether Saturday's robbery is connected to similar robberies at other area banks earlier this month.

On Feb. 3, a man robbed the TD Bank on Richmond Highway. He used the same process, by passing a note to the teller that implied that he was armed.

Another robbery occurred at the Truist Bank on River Ridge Boulevard in Woodbridge on Thursday morning. Again, a man entered the bank and passed a note to the teller demanding cash, police said.

The police department has not announced any arrests in this month's bank robberies. Authorities have also not said whether the robberies could be related.
