Armed Robbery Leads To Shooting In Woodbridge: Police

A 56-year-old man suffered a gunshot wound in Woodbridge on Sunday night during an armed robbery attempt, police said.

WOODBRIDGE, VA — A robber shot a man in Woodbridge on Sunday night, the Prince William County Police Department said.

The victim, a 56-year-old man, suffered a single gunshot wound. His injuries were not life-threatening, authorities said.

The police department has not made any arrests in connection with the shooting. Investigators described the shooter as a man who was wearing a black ski mask and green "military-style fatigue clothing."

Police officers went to the 17400 block of Richmond Highway to investigate the shooting after the victim received treatment at an area hospital. Authorities said the victim was walking in the area when an unknown man approached him and demanded his property.

The robber also pulled out a gun, police said. The victim refused to hand over his belongings and tried to wrestle the gun away from the robber. A round fired during the struggle, striking the victim.
