Arrest Made In Shooting Death Outside Recording Studio

A 43-year-old man has been charged in connection with the fatal shooting of D.C. musician in Woodbridge.

WOODBRIDGE, VA — A suspect has been arrested for the murder of a 32-year-old man outside a recording studio in Woodbridge, Va., early Monday morning. Around 1 a.m. on Monday, the suspect, identified as 43-year-old Cinquan Blakney, was involved in an altercation at the DMV Studios in the 1400 block of Old Bridge Road, Prince William County police said Wednesday. During the fight, the victim, identified as Tristan Sellers of Washington, D.C., was shot and killed.

Prince William County detectives were able to identify Blakney and obtain warrants for his arrest. Members of the U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force arrested Blakney on Wednesday without incident at an apartment located in the 8000 block of Greenbelt Station Parkway in Greenbelt, Md.

Police said Blakney, who is facing charges of murder and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony, is in custody in Maryland and is awaiting a court date.

Sellers' grandmother Carrie Coleman told FOX 5 DC that police called her early Monday morning about his death. She said her grandson, a rap musician known as Slim Tristan, loved music his entire life.
