Attempted Murder, Arson Charges Filed Against Woodbridge Woman
A woman faces attempted murder and arson charges after a fire broke out at her home in Woodbridge last month, authorities said.
WOODBRIDGE, VA — A Woodbridge woman tried to kill someone by setting her home on fire on April 2, according to charges from the Prince William County Fire Marshal's Office.
No injuries were reported in the fire.
Authorities identified the woman as 37-year-old Jessica Marie Knox. She is charged with one count of attempted first degree murder and one count of arson of an occupied dwelling.

Knox was released on a personal recognizance bond, authorities said. Her next court date is scheduled for June 13.
If convicted of both charges, Knox could spend the rest of her life in prison, based on Virginia's sentencing guidelines.

The fire occurred at a townhouse in the 4000 block of Dane Ridge Circle, where Knox lived, authorities said.
" Evidence from the scene and the suspect’s actions ultimately led to her identity in the incident," the fire marshal's office said in a news release.
Authorities arrested Knox on April 22 without incident. No further information about the case is available.
