Bank Robber Apprehended By Cop And K-9 In Woodbridge: Police

Authorities in Woodbridge arrested a man who said he had a bomb as he robbed a bank on Wednesday afternoon, police claimed.

WOODBRIDGE, VA — A man implied he had a bomb as he robbed a Wells Fargo bank in Woodbridge on Wednesday, according to the Prince William County Police Department.

After the robbery, officers arrested 41-year-old Peter Mullins of Woodbridge. He is charged with robbery and threats to bomb.

Mullins's court date is currently pending and he is being held without bond at the Prince William County Adult Detention Center.

If convicted of both charges, Mullins could face up to 15 years in prison based on Virginia's sentencing guidelines.

The robbery occurred around 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday at the Wells Fargo on Marblestone Drive. Authorities said Mullins passed a note to a bank teller that implied he had a bomb.

As officers arrived at the bank, they realized it was being robbed and saw a suspect run out the door towards Prince William Parkway, authorities said.

Officers and a police K-9 chased the suspect, who started to pull on vehicles' doors near Ridgefield Road. Police arrested him in the roadway.

Officers recovered the cash and the note, according to the police report.

First responders took Mullins to a hospital for minor injuries caused by the police dog, the police department said.
