Burglary Investigation Leads To Call To Fire Marshal: Police

When Prince William County police officers discovered evidence possibly related to arson, they contacted the fire marshal's office.

WOODBRIDGE, VA — When a resident of a Woodbridge house discovered a former resident inside the house Thursday, he confronted him. During the encounter, the former resident punched and then struck the victim in the head with a metal object, according to the Prince William County Police Department.

Police officers arrived at the house in the 1900 block of Teasel Court soon after 6 p.m. Thursday to investigate an alleged burglary. Their investigation revealed the confrontation that had occurred earlier in the day. The victim reported significant injuries from the confrontation.

After striking the victim, the former resident, Daniel Aloysius Rossi, allegedly fled with property from the house. Before fleeing, though, Rossi allegedly damaged the ceiling of the house and poured gasoline in the backyard.

The police officers later located Rossi inside his vehicle on Forestdale Drive in Woodbridge and took him into custody without incident. During the arrest, Rossi was found in possession of illegal narcotics, according to police.

When the police officers discovered evidence possibly related to arson, they contacted the Prince William County Fire Marshal’s Office.

Rossi was charged with one count of malicious wounding and two counts of grand larceny. He has a May 4 court date, the police said.
