The Prince William County War Memorial was dedicated on Memorial Day in 1992 to recognize those from our county who gave their lives during World War I, World War II, Korea and Vietnam. The county honored those individuals by engraving their names onto the memorial.

In 2006, Prince William County worked with local veterans to find the best way to honor those who had given their lives in the Middle East. It was decided to engrave the opposing face of the stone with the names of members from our community who have been killed in Iran, on the USS Cole, in Afghanistan and Iraq.
