Update: 14-Year-Old Injured In Woodbridge Gunfight: Police

Authorities said a 14-year-old was injured when a gunfight broke out at near a Dale City playground on Thursday evening.

DALE CITY, VA — A 14-year-old boy was shot in Dale City on Thursday evening when a gunfight broke out at near playground, according to a report from the Prince William County Police Department.

The boy received treatment at a nearby hospital for his gunshot wound.

Authorities have not identified any suspects in connection with the shooting. The police department noted that one of the suspects fired gunshots from an older model 4-door black BMW sedan with tinted windows and a modified exhaust.

The shooting occurred around 5:30 p.m. near Brandon Court and Benton Street. In a report, the police department said people inside the BMW exchanged gunfire with a group of people who were walking in the 3300 block of Benbow Court.

A police dog searched for the suspects, but they did not find anyone. Officers found cartridge casings and other evidence in the street and in the grass next to a nearby playground.

Investigators spoke to the victim, but he was not cooperative, according to the police department. He would not tell police officers what led to shooting or who was involved.

At least two vehicles were also injured in the shooting, the police department said.
