Child Stabbed After Group Assault In Woodbridge: Police

A child was stabbed after a group assault in Woodbridge on Sunday. Police said the three victims did not cooperate with officers.

WOODBRIDGE, VA — A trio of children were assaulted by a group on Sunday night. One of the victims was also stabbed in a second altercation. Authorities said their injuries were not considered life-threatening.

The first assault occurred around 8:45 p.m. on Sunday, in the 14700 block of Edgewater Drive in Woodbridge. At that time, three children, including two 13-year-old boys, were on Darbydale Drive when a vehicle pulled up near them.

Five people exited the vehicle and approached the children, according to the police report. The children ran away, but they encountered the group near Edgewater Drive. Authorities said there was an "altercation" before the two groups separated. One juvenile suffered a minor cut on his head, police said.

The children did not cooperate with police and would not detail what events led to the altercation, according to the police report. The children were released to their parents.

At 11 p.m., officers received a report of a stabbing involving the children. The stabbing occurred in the 15200 block of Coachman Terrace, and police believe it may have been related to the previous incident. The child refused to cooperate with officers, police said.

The child suffered a cut to his hip and superficial scratches. Authorities said the injuries were not life-threatening.

Authorities have not identified any suspects in connection with the assaults.
