This construction will affect both northbound and southbound Virginia Railway Express trains and could delay trains by 30 to 45 minutes from this coming Monday to Thursday, May 21, and by 10 to 20 minutes from Friday, May 22, to Thursday, May 28.

Once complete, the capacity, speed and reliability of VRE trains will be improved and delays reduced, as trains will be able to switch between multiple tracks. This project is a component of upgrading rail service in Virginia by creating a new third track between Richmond and Washington, D.C.
