Dad Left 13-Month-Old Son In Car During Burglary Attempt: Cops

The Prince William County Police Department is looking for a man who is charged with leaving his son in a car while he attempted a burglary.

WOODBRIDGE VA — A Woodbridge man is accused of leaving his child in a car after he attempted a burglary in Triangle, according to the Prince William County Police Department. The man, Khyree Tyrell Conway, is wanted on several charges.

On Tuesday night, police officers responded to the Quantico Court Apartments in Woodbridge to investigate a report of a disorderly person, according to a news release from the police department. Officers determined that Conway left his 13-month-old son in a running car while he attempted to enter an apartment.

The occupants of the apartment refused to let Conway in, according to authorities. Police said Conway shattered a window in an effort to enter the apartment.

Officers said they attempted to detain Conway at the scene, but he ran away from the area. As he was running, Conway dropped a firearm, according to the police report. No shots were fired, and no injuries were reported.

A police K-9 searched the area, but they were unable to find Conway. His son was found in the car, unharmed. The police department said the child was turned over to a family member.

Conway is wanted on charges of child neglect, burglary while armed, and use of a firearm in commission of a felony. He is described as a 22-year-old Black male, about 6'1" and 170 pounds. He has black hair and brown eyes, police said.
