Dominion Energy Charitable Foundation Supports Friends of the Occoquan
Grant funds are allocated for several environmental initiatives

Friends of the Occoquan, a nonprofit organization dedicated to preserving the natural integrity of the Occoquan River and other Virginia watersheds, received a $7,500 environmental stewardship grant from the Dominion Energy Charitable Foundation. Funds will support the organization’s river cleanup and community garden initiatives, along with other projects to promote water conservation such as rain barrels for harvesting rainwater. At a luncheon held on June 29, Deborah Johnson (far right), regional policy director for State & Local Affairs at Dominion Energy, presented the check to leaders and team members of Friends of the Occoquan.
In April 2017, the Dominion Energy Charitable Foundation awarded $1.2 million through a competitive grant process to more than 100 schools, organizations and communities in 10 states served by Dominion Energy. The grants support environmental education and stewardship projects that preserve, enhance or make nature more accessible. Since 2003, Dominion Energy has donated nearly $30 million to a wide variety of environmental projects across its footprint. For more information, visit www.dominionenergy.com.
