Driver Flees From Cops, Crashes After Shooting In Woodbridge Apartment: Police
A gunshot penetrated an apartment ceiling in Woodbridge. Police claimed that the man responsible crashed a car after fleeing from officers.

WOODBRIDGE, VA — A driver crashed after fleeing from police in Woodbridge on Friday, authorities said. Police claimed the driver had assaulted a woman and fired gunshots at an apartment earlier in the evening.
Officers responded to the Bayvue Apartments around 2 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 25.
A caller told police that they heard several gunshots fired at an apartment. One of the rounds came through a resident's ceiling, police said. The resident said they heard a man and a woman arguing before the shots rang out.

Authorities determined that a man and a woman argued in the apartment. Police identified the man as Nathan Lamont Ackles and the woman as a 28-year-old.
Police claimed that the argument escalated when Ackles grabbed the woman's throat. He then grabbed a gun from another room, according to the police department.

Ackles fired multiple rounds that entered two different apartments, authorities said. He then drove away in a BMW.
Officers said they saw Ackles's car driving near the apartment after the shooting. Officers said they attempted to pull the car over, but the person behind the wheel drove away.
The driver lost control of the vehicle and left the roadway on Jefferson Davis Highway near Opitz Boulevard. The BMW struck two VDOT poles before stopping, police said.
In a report, the police department said Ackles ran away from the crash. Officers took him into custody on Reddy Drive without further incident.
Authorities said there were no injuries in the crash or the shooting. Officers found a gun inside Ackles's BMW.
Authorities charged Ackles with three counts of shooting into a residential dwelling, one count of strangulation, one count of DUI, one count of destruction of property, one count of hit & run, one count of eluding, and one count of driving on a suspended license.
His next court date is scheduled for April 14.
