Driver's Death Reopens Crash Investigation In Woodbridge: Police

An investigation of a July crash in Woodbridge has been reopened now that one of the drivers died of his injuries: PWC Police.

WOODBRIDGE, VA—An investigation of a July crash in Woodbridge has been reopened now that one of the drivers died of his injuries, Prince William County Police announced Tuesday. James Ivy Turner, 68, of Woodbridge, died Sept. 15 at an out-of-state hospital, and PWC Police recently were notified of the death.

The other driver, Juan Corderio Carter, 30, of the 4500 block of Kenwood Drive, was charged July 7 with driving a motor vehicle while intoxicated.

Around 11 p.m. on July 7, police responded to the area of Old Bridge Road and Rolling Brook Drive for a reported crash. They found that Turner was headed west on Old Bridge Road in a 1993 Toyota Standard when he tried to turn left onto Rolling Brook Drive. Carter, driving a 2016 Hyundai Elantra, was headed east, failed to yield the right-of-way to through traffic and collided with Turner.

Police determined Carter was driving under the influence of alcohol. Turner was taken to a nearby hospital before being transferred to an out-of-state facility.
