Dumfries Man Pepper-Sprays Driver In Road Rage Incident: Police

A Dumfries man sprayed another driver with pepper spray after getting involved in a road-rage incident Thursday afternoon, police said.

DUMFRIES, VA — A Dumfries man sprayed another driver with pepper spray after getting involved in a road-rage incident Thursday afternoon, according to the Prince William County Police Department.

Brian Curtis Stamps, 53, was arrested Thursday and charged with malicious wounding by a caustic substance, according to police. He was released on a $3,000 unsecured bond, with a court date set for March 31.

Just before 3:30 p.m. on Thursday, Prince William County police officers responded to a report of a road rage incident in the area of Chogburn Lane and Wayside Drive in Dumfries.

The police learned that the victim, identified as a 41-year-old man, was driving in the area when he and the driver of another vehicle were involved in a road rage incident.

During the incident, Stamps sprayed the victim with pepper spray before fleeing the scene, police said. Stamps drove to the Eastern District Police Station on Cardinal Drive after the incident, where he was taken into custody without incident, according to police.

Rescue personnel treated the victim at the scene for minor injuries.
