PRINCE WILLIAM COUNTY, VA — A man was shot in Dumfries on Saturday, according to the Prince William County Police Department. The victim's housemate has been arrested and charged in connection with the shooting.

The victim, a 39-year-old man, walked into his home in the 3600 block of Brockenbrough Drive around 1 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 15. Then, he was shot, police said.

During their investigation, authorities determined that the victim's housemate fired a single round which struck him. The housemate, who police identified as Arman Jamal Roach, was taken into custody without further incident.

The firearm was recovered at the scene. No other injuries or property damage was reported.

The victim was taken to an area hospital. His injuries were not considered life-threatening, police said.

Roach is charged with one count of aggravated malicious wounding and one count of use of a firearm in commission of a felony. He is being held without bond, and his court date is scheduled for April 12, 2022.

In their report, the police department did not say what could have led to the shooting.
