Father Charged With Homicide In 4-Month-Old's Death In Woodbridge: Police
A father is now charged with homicide in a 4-month-old baby's death, according to Prince William County.

WOODBRIDGE, VA — A father has been charged in a 4-month-old baby's death in Woodbridge, according to Prince William County Police. Police have now added a felony homicide charge.
Around 12:03 p.m. on July 17, police responded to a hospital to investigate a child abuse case. The 4-month-old boy had been taken to the hospital the day before after losing consciousness at the Elevations One Apartments (14300 block of Jeffries Rd. in Woodbridge). A police investigation found the child got life-threatening injuries while in the care of his father.
On July 20, the baby's condition worsened, and he died that day. The child's body was taken to the medical examiner for an autopsy to determine the cause and manner of death.

Police had arrested Gianni Romero-Coreas, 22, of Woodbridge on July 17. He was charged with aggravated malicious wounding and felony child abuse.
After a police investigation and consultation with the Commonwealth's Attorney's office, police charged Romero-Coreas with felony homicide. The U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force took Romero-Coreas into custody again on Thursday. He is being held without bond.

Shooting Investigation: On July 18 at 6:23PM, officers responded to the Dale Forest Apartments located in the 14400 block of Watson Ln. in Woodbridge (22193) to investigate a shots fired call. The investigation revealed there was an exchange of gunfire between two groups of individuals, all of whom left prior to police arriving at the scene. While investigating the incident, officers were informed that a 20-year-old man was brought to a local hospital with a non-life threatening gunshot wound to the leg. The man refused to cooperate with the investigation. Officers located shell casings on the ground near an electrical box and on the threshold of an apartment building. The entrance area of the apartment building sustained damage consistent with being struck by gunfire. No additional injuries or property damage were reported. The investigation continues as detectives determine the events that led up to the shooing and those involved.
Malicious Wounding: On July 20 at 7:13PM, officers responded to the 13300 block of Occoquan Rd. in Woodbridge (22191) to investigate an assault. The investigation revealed the victim, a 39-year-old man, and a man whom the victim had previously encountered, were involved in an altercation in a wooded area near the above location. During the encounter, the suspect cut the victim with a machete-style knife. The suspect left the area prior to police arriving on scene. The victim was treated at an area hospital for non-life threatening injuries. The suspect was not located. Suspect Description: A Hispanic male, approximately 5’4”, with a thin build Last seen wearing blue shirt and pants, black shoes and possibly carrying a black backpack.
Reckless Handling of a Firearm: On July 21 at 2:27PM, officers responded to the 14300 block of Gideon Dr. in Woodbridge (22192) to investigate a shots fired call. The investigation revealed two individuals were involved in an altercation over a firearm when a round was fired into the ground in a parking lot in the above area. All parties left prior to police arriving on scene. A shell casing was located in the parking lot. No injuries or property damage were reported.
