Firefighter Falls Through Floor Of Burning Montclair Home: Authorities

A firefighter pulled himself out of a burning building in Montclair on Tuesday after he fell through the weakened floor, authorities said.

PRINCE WILLIAM COUNTY, VA — A firefighter fell through the floor of a burning building in Montclair on Tuesday, according to a report from the Prince William County Department of Fire and Rescue.

The firefighter was able to pull himself from the scene of the fire. Authorities did not provide information about the extent of his injuries. No other injuries were reported in the blaze.

The fire broke out at an unoccupied home in the 15000 block of Edgewater Drive in Montclair on Tuesday morning. When firefighters arrived on the scene, smoke was emerging from the home. First responders then entered the house to attack the fire from inside, according to the fire department report.

Firefighters extinguished the blaze, but not before the home sustained extensive damage, authorities said.

The Fire Marshal's Office determined that faulty wiring caused the fire. The Prince William County Building Official deemed that the home was unsafe to occupy.
