Flash Flood Warning in Woodbridge Area Saturday Night

The National Weather Service has issued a flash flood warning for the Woodbridge area Saturday night, including Woodbridge, Fort Belvoir, Dale City, Franconia, Newington, Montclair, Mason Neck and Mount Vernon.

The thunderstorm moving through the area is expected to produce heavy rain across the area, with up to three inches of rain already on the ground.

“Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the dangers of flooding,” according to the NWS statement. “Turn around, don’t drown when encountering flooded roads.”

Most flood deaths occur in vehicles, the NWS notes.
