Former Middle School Teacher Charged With Soliciting Teens: PWC Police

Jonathan Burns faces multiple charges after police said he texted two former underage students and solicited them for sex.

WOODBRIDGE, VA — A former Prince William County middle school teacher is accused of sending sexually explicit messages and soliciting two underage teenagers for sex, according to police.

Jonathan R. Burns, 36, of Woodbridge, was charged with six counts of using a communication system to facilitate certain offenses involving children stemming from the July 2023 incidents, a Prince William County police news release said.

According to police, investigators learned Burns was texting two former students. During the conversations, police said Burns sent the victims inappropriate and sexually explicit messages and solicited the teens for sex. During a video chat, police said Burns exposed himself to one of the victims.

No physical contact was reported by either victim, police said.

According to authorities, Burns taught both victims while working for Prince William County schools but wasn't working for the district or teaching either teen when the conversations occurred.

Police said the victims only knew Burns because of his role as a teacher.

Burns' next court date is pending.
