Fredericksburg Man Wanted By Police After Fatal Shooting In Dumfries
Authorities are looking for a Fredericksburg man who is wanted for murder in connection with a fatal shooting in Dumfries on Friday.

DUMFRIES, VA — Authorities have identified a suspect in connection with a fatal shooting that occurred in Dumfries on Friday. The Prince William County Police Department has been unable to locate the suspect.
On Monday, the police department identified the victim who died in the shooting as 21-year-old Jeremiah Quentin Deck. Another victim, a 23-year-old man, is still hospitalized. He is expected to survive, police said.
Investigators identified the suspect as 33-year-old Daniel Christopher Shannon of Fredericksburg. He is wanted for one count of murder, one count of aggravated malicious wounding, two counts of use of a firearm in commission of a felony, and one count of discharging a firearm within a dwelling.

Authorities have not been able to locate Shannon. The police department described Shannon as a Black man who is six feet tall and weighs 230 pounds. He has black hair and brown eyes.

The shooting occurred around 9:30 a.m. on Friday at a home in the 1900 block of Fort Monroe Court in Dumfries. When police officers arrived, they found the two victims suffering from gunshot wounds to the upper body, according to the police report. The shooter had already left the area.

Investigators believe Shannon was at the house when an argument broke out. The men briefly separated before Shannon went upstairs and shot both victims, the police department said in a report.
Authorities noted that Shannon left the area in a blue 2006 Ford Explorer, with Virginia license plates: VVA-7727.
