WOODBRIDGE, VA — A GameStop employee stabbed a customer during an argument at the store in the Potomac Mills mall on Wednesday, the Prince William County Police Department said.

The victim, a 30-year-old man, received treatment at an area hospital. His injuries were not life-threatening, authorities said.

The police department identified the employee and suspect as 28-year-old Xavior Robert Lee Courtney. He is charged with one count of aggravated malicious wounding. His court date is pending and his bond is listed as unavailable.

If convicted, Courtney could spend the rest of his life in prison, based on Virginia's sentencing guidelines.

The stabbing occurred around 2 p.m. on Wednesday at the GameStop store in the Potomac Mills mall. Authorities said the victim was a customer who had an argument with Courtney. "During the encounter, the accused retrieved a pocket knife and stabbed the victim in the upper body," the police report said.

Police officers provided first aid until the victim could be taken to the hospital. Investigators said Courtney left the store at first before returning. He was then taken into custody.

The store was still closed on Thursday afternoon.
