Hillary Clinton Wins Beville Middle Mock Election in Woodbridge

Democratic candidate received 88 percent of the votes while Donald Trump garnered just 12 percent in mock vote among 8th graders.

WOODBRIDGE, VA — It's official: Hillary Clinton easily defeated Donald Trump to win the 2016 presidential election — at least that's what 8th graders at Beville Middle School decided last week.

The Democratic candidate received 88 percent of the votes while the GOP nominee garnered just 12 percent.

Other votes, according to Prince William County Public Schoools, were scattered among the Green Party (Jill Stein), the Libertarian Party (Gary Johnson) and write-in candidates (their best friend?).

At the urging of social studies teachers Atif Qarni, James McGovern and Tiffany Graczyk, the students made a point to follow the race and took their participation in the mock election seriously.

"We have simulated a real-life experience for the kids to get an idea of what it is like to go through a voting process," Quarni said is a release. "In leading up to this we have given our kids multiple opportunities to analyze many issues about all the candidates and independently shape their own minds and opinions and decide who to vote for."
