Man Accused Of Stabbing Dog In The Chest In Woodbridge: Police
Authorities said a Woodbridge man stabbed a dog in the chest on Sunday evening. He has been arrested and charged with felony animal cruelty.
WOODBRIDGE, VA — A man stabbed a dog in the chest at an apartment in Woodbridge on Sunday evening, according to the Prince William County Police Department. The man was arrested, police said.
The dog is expected to recover from the stab wound, authorities said.
The police department identified the man as 41-year-old Ronald Bumpus. Bumpus is charged with one count of felony animal cruelty. His court date is pending and he is being held without bond.

If convicted, Bumpus could face up to five years in prison. The court may also required him to attend anger management classes or receive psychiatric counseling. He could also be barred from owning any pets in the future.
The incident occurred around 7 p.m. on Sunday at the County Center Crossing apartments in Woodbridge. Authorities said the dog, a 1-year-old Pit Bull, acted excitedly when a guest came into the apartment.

Investigators said Bumpus grabbed the excited dog by the neck. The dog reacted aggressively, and Bumpus went into another room to grab a knife. He then stabbed the dog in the chest, according to the police report.
The guest took the knife from Bumpus and provided first aid to the dog before calling police. '
