Man Arrested For Shooting At Cops In Woodbridge: PWC Police

A man injured during a shootout with police Sunday in Woodbridge was arrested Thursday, according to Prince William County Police.

WOODBRIDGE, VA—A man injured during a shootout with police Sunday in the 1100 block of Laurel Street was arrested Thursday, according to Prince William County Police. Brett Anthony Monteith, 29, of the aforementioned address, was charged with attempted capital murder of a law enforcement and use of a firearm in commission of a felony.

Monteith remains hospitalized with injuries to his upper body. The officers involved remain on paid leave. Other charges are pending, according to police.

Shortly after 5:30 p.m., police responded to the area for a "shots fired" call. As they arrived, a man began shooting at them with a rifle, and a police cruiser was hit multiple times. Police returned fire and hit the shooter in the upper body.

Other homes in the area also were hit. No other injuries were reported. Police said Friday the findings of their ongoing investigation, as well as other details, will be released later.
