WOODBRIDGE, VA — A 59-year-old man died Thursday afternoon when his pickup truck veered off the road in Woodbridge and crashed into two cars in a nearby parking lot. The Prince William County Police Department said its investigation revealed the man suffered a medical emergency that caused him to lose control of his vehicle and that his death was medical-related, not the result of injuries from the crash.

Prince William County police responded to the 14400 block of Village Road at 4:45 p.m. Thursday. They determined that William Waibel III of Woodbridge was traveling eastbound in his Dodge Ram pickup truck on Village Road when he suffered a medical emergency and ran off the road.

Waibel's pickup truck traveled a short distance and then entered a parking lot where it struck a parked, unoccupied Toyota Rav 4 causing that vehicle to be pushed into a lamp post. The pickup truck then continued and struck a parked, unoccupied Dodge Avenger before coming to a stop.
