Victim Shot At By Trio Of Men Who Were Trying To Enter Parked Cars In Woodbridge: Police

A man reported that he was shot at while fleeing from a trio of men. Police later determined that the men were trying to enter parked cars.

WOODBRIDGE, VA — A man was shot at in Lake Ridge on Sunday night, according to a report from the Prince William County Police Department. Authorities believe that the man who fired the shots was part of a trio that was attempting to enter parked cars in the area.

The shooting was reported around 11:30 p.m. in the 12700 block of Bedford Glen Way in Woodbridge. When officers arrived on the scene, they met the victim, who was identified as a 23-year-old man.

The victim told police that he was parking in his driveway when he saw an unknown man duck behind a vehicle at a house across the street. The unknown man then met up with two other people who came from behind the same house. The three men then left the area on foot, according to the police report.

The victim followed the men in his vehicle to the area near Aubrey Glen Terrace, police said. There, the victim argued with the men.

At one point, one of the unknown men handed what appeared to be a firearm to his compatriot, the victim reported to police. The victim attempted to drive away as someone fired several gunshots. One shot struck rear window of the victim's car, shattering the class, police said.

The victim was not struck by the bullet and the three men fled the area on foot.

Video surveillance from the neighborhood showed that the three suspects were attempting to enter parked cars. Officers found cartridge casings in the roadway, according to the police report.

Other than the damage to the victim's car, no property damage was reported. No injuries were reported in the shooting.

A police K-9 searched for the suspects on Sunday night, but they were not located.
