Meet Koda, the Police Dog Who Just Retired in Prince William County
After an impressive career with the police, K-9 Koda is now relaxing at home with his handler.

He did a stint on the SWAT team and was the sole member of an explosives detection team for six years. That’d be an impressive resume for anyone, but is even more incredible considering the police officer described is a dog.
After a long career with the police, K-9 Koda recently retired from the Prince William County Police Department and is now spending his days at home with his handler.
Koda was Prince William County’s first dog certified in explosives detection, after training in a program his handler Officer Marshall Daniel developed. Koda was the only dog at the police department with this certification for more than six years before other dogs completed training.

Koda also spent some time as a SWAT dog, which required him to complete additional training to work in highly volatile environments.
In addition to his SWAT and explosives certification, Koda trained annually in tracking, suspect search, agility, criminal apprehension and basic obedience.
