WOODBRIDGE, VA — The "andThat!" store at the Potomac Mills mall will permanently close later this month. A store employee told Patch that they expect the facility's final operating day to be on June 25.

AndThat! is a brand that exists under the Christmas Tree Shops retailer. The stores offer home decor, furniture, and a variety of budget items.

On Tuesday, the Woodbridge location was offering store-wide discounts on all items. The store was also trying to sell its furnishings, including the shelves themselves.

In May, the Christmas Tree Shops brand filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection, according to Retail Dive. In their bankruptcy protection deal, the retailer sought court approval to close up to 10 of its 82 stores.

In a news release, the retailer said they would only close underperforming stores. Mark Salkovitz is the chairman for the Christmas Tree Shops.

"This is strictly a financial restructuring. Our operations are sound," Salkovitz said. "By increasing our financial flexibility, we will be able to focus on continuing to delight our loyal customers with a wide selection of unique goods at affordable prices."

The chain was owned by Bed Bath & Beyond, which also filed for bankruptcy recently, from 2003 through 2020.

"We continue to believe that given its storied history and strong customer loyalty, CTS has tremendous potential, and we remain committed to the long-term success of the business," Salkovitz said.

Anyone looking to purchase the furnishings from the Potomac Mills andThat! store should bring their own tools, an employee told Patch.
