Police: Charges in Fatal Dumfries Crash

Suspect is charged with failure to yield the right of way, according to Prince William County Police.

A driver is now facing charges related to a fatal crash Dec. 2 on Jefferson Davis Highway.

Richard T. Stewart, 57, of the 13400 block of Winterspoon Lane in Germantown, Md., faces charges of failure to yield the right of way. He was released on a court summons Tuesday.

Investigators claim Stewart was driving his 2013 Chevrolet Silverado at 12:24 p.m. Dec. 2, turning left onto Jefferson Davis Highway at the intersection with Chesapeake Drive.

The Silverado allegedly crossed paths with a 2010 Yamaha T-Max motorcycle. The operator of the bike and a passenger were taken to an area hospital.

Justin Casey Felch, 26, of Woodbridge, died as a result of his injuries.The passenger, a 31 year old Dumfries man, sustained serious injuries, according to police. Both were wearing helmets at the time of the crash.

Stewart was not injured. Speed, alcohol and drug use are not factors in the collision.
