Police: Couple Tried To Cover Up Stabbing

Woodbridge pair charged by Prince William County police in Dec. 27 domestic incident.

A Woodbridge man is being accused of trying to mislead Prince William County police about a December incident in which his girlfriend allegedly stabbed him.

Detectives from the Police Department’s Robbery Unit have made two arrests in the stabbing, originally reported Dec. 27, according to a police report.

The detectives found that the victim, identified as Richard Gregg Davis, 50 (in photo above), was stabbed by his girlfriend, Cynthia Lea Nelson, 32 (in photo above), during a domestic fight at their residence at 12713 Harborview Court. But Davis told police that an unknown man had stabbed and attempted to rob him while he was walking on the street outside, according to police.

The initial report contained inconsistencies later determined to be false, police said. Nelson was arrested Sunday and charged with malicious wounding. She is being held without bond at the Prince William-Manassas Regional Adult Detention Center, and her court date is pending.

Police arrested Davis on Tuesday and charged him with filing a false police report. He was released on a $5,000 bond, and is due in court on March 17.
