Michigan State Police are investigating the shooting death Thursday of a Woodbridge man in what appears to have been an exchange of gunfire with U.S. Border Patrol agents searching for him near the Canadian border.
Aaron Andrew Furness, 38, of Woodbridge was found dead in a remote cabin on Drummond Island in Chippewa County, Michigan. Furness had connections to the area.

While searching for Furness, the Border Patrol agents discovered foot prints and tracked them to a remote cabin where they were fired upon, according to a statement by state police.
The agents returned fire as Furness retreated into the cabin. After unsuccessful attempts to contact Furness inside the cabin, police made entry and found his body.
