PRINCE WILLIAM COUNTY, VA — Potomac District Supervisor Andrea Bailey is the second Prince William County supervisor joining the race for the 7th congressional district. Numerous candidates are vying for the nomination in the Democratic and Republican primaries.

Andrea Bailey, who is serving her second term as the Potomac District supervisor, is running for the congressional seat as a Democrat. She received an endorsement from former Virginia Gov. Ralph Northam.

"I want to bring my skills, experience, and success representing constituents in Virginia's 2nd largest county to the federal level," said Bailey in a statement. "As your next Congresswoman for Virginia’s 7th Congressional District, I will continue to be a progressive champion of working families and fight for access to affordable healthcare, end the stigmatization of mental health struggles, and ensure that our teachers get the resources they need so every child receives a quality education."

According to Bailey, her priorities in Prince William County have been supporting the county's first crisis receiving center for mental health, passing the county's first collective bargaining ordinance and supporting affordable and workforce housing.

"I am a pragmatic no nonsense Democrat who will work to restore confidence in Congress," said Bailey. "While I will always stand by my core beliefs and principles, I believe in compromise to get things done. There is far too much fighting and not enough talking in our current Congress."
