PRINCE WILLIAM COUNTY — Prince William County Republican voters elected Woodbridge resident Tim Parrish as their new chairman Saturday in a drive-by "unassembled convention” election. Parrish takes over a two-year term as chairman after Bill Card decided not to seek reelection.

Parrish won a three-way race with 61 percent of the weighted vote and 66 percent of the raw vote over Carol Czarkowski of Gainesville and long-time party activist William Johnston of Dale City. Parrish is the first person of color to chair Prince William County's Republican Committee.

The election was originally scheduled to take place on March 28 at the committee’s biennial convention. However, the election was postponed and changed to an outdoor drive-by event due to the coronavirus crisis.

"We have a lot of work to do — we have lost a lot of elections and many voters in this County aren’t sure what we stand for," Parrish said Monday in a statement. "I welcome any Prince William resident to join our meetings or contact us — we are a Big Tent Party and we look forward to engaging neighbors and fellow Prince William residents about our values of good governance, job growth, strong public safety, low taxes, and individual liberty.”

Parrish, a Marine veteran, operates a security policy consulting business. After growing up in the suburbs of Orlando, Florida, Parrish enlisted in the Marine Corps. During his eight years of active duty service, he had many assignments, including serving with the Marine Corps Embassy Security Group and the enlisted staff at The Basic School at Quantico.

Parrish was one of the featured speakers at Saturday's pro-police rally in Manassas sponsored by the organization We Back Blue.

“I know that Tim has both the energy and political savvy to reach new voters and get Prince William Republicans to come out and support our candidates in our upcoming elections," said Card, the outgoing chairman. "I’m glad he will be at the helm for the all-important state elections next year to take back the House of Delegates and return sanity and dignity to the governor’s mansion, lieutenant governor’s office, and the attorney general position.”
