PWC Supervisors Block Planned Dominion Power Line From County Property

PRINCE WILLIAM COUNTY, VA – Prince William County supervisors passed a resolution Tuesday night stating that the county does not support and does not intend to grant Dominion Energy access to county property or easements for two proposed transmission routes for its Nokesville to Bristow 230-kilovolt electric transmission line project.

The routes the county has blocked are Routes 5 and 12, blue and light blue-coded routes on the power company’s route map.

The new transmission line is expected to be about 6.5 miles long. In December, county supervisors expressed a preference for underground routes.

In May, Dominion Energy stressed that it did not have a proposed route at the time. It has not yet made a formal submission to the Virginia State Corporation Commission, the state’s utility regulator, to approve the project.

Dominion Energy will hold a community meeting on the Nokesville to Bristow transmission line on July 23 at Patriot High School at 5:30 p.m.
