PWC Teacher Sexually Assaulted Student, Gave Her Marijuana: Police

WOODBRIDGE, VA — A Prince William County middle school teacher faces multiple charges after authorities said he sexually assaulted a student under the age of 15 after providing her with marijuana, according to police.

Tavon Town, 31, a teacher at Fred Lynn Middle School, is charged with two counts of aggravated sexual battery, one count of forcible sodomy, and one count of indecent liberties with a minor, according to a news release from Prince William County police.

Authorities said Town arranged to meet the victim outside of the school on March 30. He then gave the girl marijuana before driving her to his Dumfries home, where police said he sexually assaulted her.

Police only recently learned about the incident, according to authorities.

According to a letter written by a Fred Lynn Middle School official and obtained by Patch, Town is on administrative leave while police investigate.

"I am both shocked and disappointed by this allegation. This is not reflective of our outstanding school and our hard-working staff who are committed to our students and community," the letter states. "As always, I encourage you to talk with your students and should they ever feel unsafe at school or witness any concerning event, they should report it to you or a trusted adult as soon as possible."

Town is being held without bond, according to police. His court date is pending.
