Hometown: Woodbridge
Hero's job: Rose runs a 501c nonprofit center that helps the most vulnerable in the community. She has been helping the poor in Prince William County at The StreetLight for about 15 years.
Relationship to nominee: I work for this person.
Reason for recognition: Rose Powers is founder and Executive Director of StreetLight Community Outreach Ministries in Woodbridge. She has dedicated herself to helping the poor in Prince William County. She has worked tirelessly during the COVID-19 crisis to care for others. Rose uses soft words and kind words with the people she helps. We are open for walk-ins during COVID-19. She has not turned away any poor or homeless person who needs her help. She goes into the woods in nearby areas to talk to the homeless and bring them care packages and food. She also has used donations to pay for homeless people to get their medications.
One thing to know: She has not taken a day off since the start of the pandemic. She makes sure the poor have food on their table and have a roof over their head. She is in her mid-60s and isn't afraid of her own health risk. Her dream is to open a HOPE center in the near future to house the poor and homeless. She hopes to find donors or investors to make her dream a reality.
Thank you for all you do, Rose!
