School Honoring Fallen Firefighter Christened in Woodbridge
Kyle R. Wilson Elementary School's namesake was a 24-year-old Hylton High grad who died battling a house fire in April 2007.

WOODBRIDGE, VA — Kyle R. Wilson was a 24-year-old Prince William County firefighter killed April 16, 2007, while battling a house fire in Woodbridge.
Tuesday night, various county officials and others gathered for the ribbon-cutting dedication of the new Kyle R. Wilson Elementary School.
Department of Fire and Rescue Chief Kevin McGee told the audience that he and his department had "adopted" the school's students, faculty and staff earlier in the day.

"Whenever anyone asks our students, 'What school do you go to,' we, in the Fire and Rescue Department, will be honored when you proudly say, 'I go to Wilson,' " he said. ". . .There's no better public servant, no better citizen, no better athlete, no better student to carry the name of your school than Kyle R. Wilson."
Also in attendance was Kelli Gray, Wilson's sister, who thanked those on hand.

"It is with your efforts in this school that Kyle's memory and legacy is still so much alive in the hearts of so many," she said. "We are excited to watch these students grow into hard working, selfless and kind individuals, just as Kyle was."
