Shooting Suspect Arrested During Woodbridge Break-In Attempt: Police

WOODBRIDGE, VA — A shooting suspect was arrested during an attempted break-in in Woodbridge on Tuesday, the Prince William County Police Department.

The suspect, 34-year-old Emmanuel Boateng, was wanted in connection with a Sept. 20 shooting in Woodbridge.

Boateng is charged with attempted burglary, use of a firearm in commission of a felony, two counts of possession of a schedule I or II narcotic, possession of a firearm with a scheduled narcotic, obstruction of justice, and public intoxication. He was also served warrants for malicious wounding and use of a firearm in commission of a felony.

His court date is pending and his bond is unavailable.

The break-in occurred on Tuesday in the 16600 block of Fern Place in Woodbridge. Investigators said Boateng was armed as he tried to break through the front door. He knew the residents, the police department said.

Police officers arrived on scene and tried to stop Boateng, who fled on foot. Officers were able to detain him after a brief chase, the police department said.

He was served his outstanding warrants in addition to several new charges.

Boateng was already wanted in connection with a Sept. 20 shooting at the Potomac Ridge Apartments in Woodbridge. Authorities said the victim was in an apartment with Boateng and and another man when an argument broke out.

The argument continued in the parking lot. Once outside, Boateng grabbed a gun and fired multiple shots, the police department said. One of the bullets ricocheted and hit the victim in the lower body, according to authorities

Police officers arrived and provided first aid to the victim before a helicopter arrived and took him to a hospital.
