14-Year-Old Girl Shot Outside Woodbridge Carnival: Police

A fight in the parking lot outside Gar-Field High School ended Friday when multiple shots were fired, police said.

WOODBRIDGE, VA — A 14-year-old girl was injured Friday in a shooting at a carnival in the parking lot of Gar-Field High School, Prince William County police said Saturday.

Officers who were working the carnival responded to reports of gunshots around 9:22 p.m. on Friday. According to police, two groups of people had left the carnival and started fighting in the parking lot. During the altercation, multiple shots were fired, police said.

When officers arrived, they found the victim with a gunshot wound to her abdomen. It's unclear whether she was involved in the fight, police said.

The girl was flown to a nearby hospital where her injuries were determined to be non-life-threatening.

A nearby vehicle also sustained damage in the shooting, police said.

The police department has not publicly identified a suspect in the shooting; however, witnesses told police they saw a possible suspect flee toward Smoketown Road following the shooting.

The suspect was described as a Black male who is possibly in his teens. He was wearing a red hooded sweatshirt, black pants, and white shoes, police said.
