Shoplifters Try Hard, Fail Miserably at Potomac Mills

A&F models wrangle one suspect. Osh Kosh employee gets hit in the face, but suspect still detained.

We’re all hunting for deals this time of year, but two shoplifters are accused of taking it too far. Now, they’re behind bars.

The trendy clothing outlet Abercrombie and Fitch had one of two high-profile arrests at Potomac Mills in the past week.

Police say two suspects entered the Abercrombie store near 1:38 p.m. on Dec. 17. The two men took a pair of jeans and exited the store without paying.

“As the employees went to detain the suspects, one of the men, identified as David Daswell, resisted the employees and threatened to use mace against them,” said police spokesperson Officer Jonathan Perok.

No injuries were reported and mace was never used. The second suspect, 23, of Washington, D.C., did not resist and received a charge for petit larceny.

David Patriarch Daswell, 23, of 3206 Curtis Dr, in Temple Hills, Maryland, is charged with robbery, possession of burglarious tools and petit larceny. He is being held without bond.

Ironically, it was a more violent struggle at the Osh Kosh outlet on Saturday, the busiest shopping day of the year. Officers responded at 8:35 p.m. regarding a shoplifting incident.

Employees stated that a woman selected numerous clothing items and placed them in a large bag. An employee confronted the woman, who then quickly moved toward the exit.

“The employee attempted to grab the merchandise back from the suspect and was struck in the face,” Perok said.

Minor injuries were reported. The suspect was eventually detained.

Sammarra Natova Adgerson, 20, of 418 Melon St SE, Washington, D.C., is charged with robbery, shoplifting, providing a false identity to police and possession of marijuana. She is being held without bond.
