The Sky is not the Limit when there are Footprints on the Moon

Seeking 23, 3rd graders to wow their parents, peers, and teachers! … Found 'em!

Woodbridge, VA - On March 1, 2018, Ms. Deborah Price’s 3rd grade Christ Chapel Academy class wowed their parents, peers, and teachers by presenting “Night at the Museum,” a Living Wax Museum Exhibit where each student took on the persona of a well-known African American, U.S. President, or historical figure.

About the exhibit

Each child wrote a paper and a speech, created props, and then presented their research during the Living Wax Museum Exhibit. Yes, 3rd graders were tasked with writing research papers and they did! They even memorized the speeches they wrote.

Museumgoers stopped at each exhibit and tapped on a light, and the historical figure came to life, stated the name of their persona, welcomed visitors to their exhibit, talked about what they did that made lasting contributions to the world, and then when each child was finished speaking, they tapped their light off and froze in pose signaling to visitors that their presentation was over. Visitors then moved on to the next exhibit.

Not the first Feat

This wasn’t the class’ first moment under the spotlight. During the Christmas holidays they presented “A Charlie Brown Christmas.” This 3rd grade class has lots of energy that is channeled in the team projects they have accomplished this school year. They are the ultimate example of what successful teamwork looks like. Take note, adults. Ms. Price has her hands full with each dynamic child that greets her at her classroom door every school day, but she has figured out productive ways to make that energy work in positive and creative ways.

Price notes that she wasn’t sure what her role would be at Christ Chapel this school year. A couple of weeks before school began, she was assigned the 3rd grade class. She quickly had to switch lanes from being a 6th grade science and math teacher to a 3rd grade multiple subjects teacher. She recalls that she was saved (accepting Jesus as her personal Savior) in the 3rd grade and because of that felt an instant connection to the students she would teach this school year. Ms. Deborah Price has made that connection and a lasting impact as her 3rd grade students will never forget her belief that they could ALL do more than what is expected of little 3rd graders. Can't wait to see what these little minds do next.

The sky is never the limit because there are footprints on the moon.
